“Everything good, everything magical happens
between the months of June and August.” – Jenny Han
We recently moved through the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year when the sun is closest to the Earth in the Northern Hemisphere. I live on a lake in Michigan, so this is truly my favorite time of year because we get to enjoy the waterfowl in the early mornings and beautiful sunsets where it really doesn’t get dark until around 10 pm!
The scary part is how to enjoy the sun without endangering our skin or our eyes from the powerful rays of the sun. There is so much controversy about whether to wear sunscreen, which type is best, what about the chemicals in the sunscreen, whether sunglasses are actually good for your eyes, or should we be opting to cover up with long sleeves and big hats?
Earlier this year, I had a toxin test, and it showed that I had high levels of glyphosate and parabens in my blood stream. This really scared me because I purchase primarily organic products. I have also cut out gluten from my diet, and I read labels to ensure my skincare products are natural. Somehow, I must have missed something!
If you are anything like me, you try to do your research to make healthy choices, but there is so much conflicting information. In fact, news has begun to surface that several sunscreens contain different chemicals linked to cancer, leaving people to wonder if it’s safe to even use sunscreen. This is what Christopher Bunick, MD, PhD, a Yale Medicine dermatologist had to say about, Is My Sunscreen Safe?
Keeping this in mind, I am wearing big hats and using the safest sunscreen I can find.
This month, I am interviewing two women I have been following who have healthy and natural recommendations for taking care of your eyes and skin this summer!
Nadine Artemis is a beauty philosopher and founder of Living Libations. Nadine will share practical ways to welcome the powerful elements of the sun, air, water, and plants into our self-care.
Nadine and I will discuss how to add botanicals to your beauty rituals, why she says thesun is beneficial for the skin, and what sunscreen does to the body. We will also talk about the importance of using plant extracts as holistic body care.
If you wear glasses, have you ever wondered why your eyes keep getting worse and worse with each check up? I sure have. That’s why after taking the 21 Days to Better Eyesight Experience, I thought it would be amazing to share what I learned with you by interviewing natural vision improvement expert, Claudia Muehlenweg, abouthow to see clearly without glasses or surgery!
Claudia focuses on finding the root cause of her clients’ blurry vision rather than using symptomatic treatments such as glasses, contacts, or surgery that can actually make their eyesight worse in the long term.
During our show, we will discuss techniques to correct your vision naturally, ways to keep your eyes healthy, and the impact screen time has on your vision.
