“Everything we do is infused with the energy with which we do it. If we’re frantic, life will be frantic. If we’re peaceful, life will be peaceful. And so our goal in any situation becomes inner peace. Our internal state determines our experience of our lives; our experiences do not determine our internal state.”
~ Marianne Williamson
I received this quote by Marianne Williamson from our 100 Days of Inspirational Quotes and wanted to share it with you. I found it interesting because I believe our early childhood experiences create our beliefs, and our beliefs create our thoughts. Our thoughts in turn determine how we show up in the world and how we react to new experiences.
So for most of us, the idea of living in a state of inner peace, joy, abundance, and love is the goal. Getting there can often seem futile because of the way our mind works.
In his book, The Biology of Belief, Bruce Lipton states that people hear about positive thinking – like living in this inner state of peace for example – but when they attempt to put it into practice, it doesn’t work because there is a step missing.
In my personal coaching practice, that missing step is a very specific process of identifying and releasing the limiting beliefs that are holding us hostage from living our life from a state of inner peace. Once we reach this state, our life experiences can begin to flow. This will show up as synchronistic events that we may want to dismiss as coincidence.
Lipton goes on to state, that there are basically two parts of the mind: the conscious and the subconscious. Neuroscientists have revealed that the conscious mind only operates 5% of the time while our subconscious mind is running the show the other 95% of the time.
You have probably experienced this when you were driving and talking on the phone, and suddenly you looked around and wondered where you were. You had been driving the car subconsciously or on auto pilot. The scary part is that ninety-five percent or more of the time, we run our lives on what Lipton calls the “automatic processor,” the subconscious mind.
The amazing thing is that this “automatic processor” or our subconscious mind is formed during the first six years of life. During that time, Lipton says, “The brain is in a state of a “hypnogogic” trance and records our experiences of the world, just like a tape recorder.”
So if you were told things like, “money doesn’t grow on trees” or ‘you are stupid”, or if you experienced feelings like “I’m not good enough,” this is what your brain records as truth. In most cases, is what you still believe to this day at a subconscious level. I have worked with hundreds of women ages 50 and up who are still operating from those disempowering or false beliefs that were created when they were little girls. Those false beliefs are still showing up today.
Years ago, I took a course called the Money Breakthrough Method of Coaching that focused on five money personalities:
- Value: “I’m not good enough or a good person”
- Recognition: “I’ve got to do it by myself or I have to prove I’m right”
- Love: “I will do whatever it takes to be loved”
- Security: “I never know when what I have will disappear”
- Status: “Whatever I have is never enough”
I have found that each of us has one primary money personality, and this is how it often shows up in our life:
- Creating debt – spending to get the big win, to get more, to get love, to help others or to fill a hole in our heart
- Hoarding – even when we have more than enough
- Undercharging – because we are afraid we aren’t good enough even when we are very credentialed with years of experience or because we think some money is better than nothing
- Overspending – by lavishing gifts on others or ourselves to show love or success
- Taking undue risk – like going for the big win, big ideas or giving our power away to others
- Over giving – giving of time, energy and money to the point of resentment and burnout
- Destroying Health, Happiness – creating issues with our weight, our health and our relationships
Is any of this resonating with you? Most of us aren’t conscious of the beliefs that are underlying our actions. This is why I say that our money mindset is created from our early childhood through what we observe, hear, and feel. These experiences form beliefs that may or not be true. Most of the time, they are false beliefs that still hold us hostage to this day.
For years, I have offered women money breakthrough sessions where we identify these false beliefs and then extinguish them. After this, they can operate consciously and from a state of inner peace and power.
Releasing these false beliefs is a powerful and exciting process. It can be intense with huge transformations. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing so many women find peace, lose weight, mend relationships almost magically with love ones, get married, change jobs, retire, ask for more and get it, start new businesses, even create their legacy. The list goes on and on.
Later this summer, I’ll be inviting you to our new Unlock Your Financial Power program where we will delve deeper into my signature process of creating a life of true prosperity which includes not just having money, but living a joyful and healthy life. This program will be free to all the women of the world because of a generous gift from The Seed Foundation.
I also offer 90 minute private sessions, so if you are interested, just visit www.talkwithkatana.com and schedule a complementary session with me. I’ll ask you to complete an online coaching prep form so our time together will be very effective.
As a Life and Legacy Coach, I help people create a life they love. I believe the new retirement solution for most of us will be working until we are about 70, but to do that and thrive, we will need to create better work/life balance, create a powerful self-care plan, and of course make the smart financial planning choices. I’d love to hear from you on this topic! Come talk with me at www.talkwithkatana.com
