“I like the impossible because there’s less competition.” – Walt Disney

You may be familiar with the movie “The Secret,” and the book Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.  Both are based on the Law of Attraction and the idea that “Thoughts are things, and we get what we focus on.”  I read Think and Grow Rich at age 20, and it changed my life.

It was during that pivotal time that I found my inner strength to leave an abusive marriage, quit college, and go to an employment agency to get a job to support myself.  And it’s truly when I had to take that LEAP of faith to begin a long journey with many interesting chapters.

I was a clerk/typist at an international industrial firm in my first chapter.  I was a terrible secretary, and the job was sucking the life out of me!  I decided that I could not spend my life in a cubicle, and I had to take another leap that took me completely out of my comfort zone.

I knew I had to seek out something I loved and could excel at, but what could that be?  Then I remembered I was great at sales!  I used to go door-to-door fundraising for our parochial school and collecting holiday dollars for the poor.  It was easy for me.  I loved leading a cause and making a difference.

I ended up interviewing for two different jobs.  One was a financial planning company; the other was a startup where I’d work with small businesses. Because of what I do today, you may assume that I took the job to become a financial planner — but that’s not quite right. The Universe had another plan for me.  I wasn’t ready and had more to learn.

I ended up at a firm called Metro Trading Association, and during that time, we were in a huge recession with record high interest rates and companies were looking for new ways to grow their businesses. Metro Trading Association enabled small businesses to trade their inventory and services via a “credit card.”  I loved it.  I got to meet with business owners in the community and I was super successful.

During that time, I found my first mentor.  I also learned about the professional development community and took courses from Tommy Hopkins, Michael Wicket, Zig Ziglar, and Brian Tracy.  The next few years, I experienced some very difficult times, too.  These experiences were also teachers.  There is always a gift, and we need to look for these.

After a few years, I found myself selling Hondas. This is when I hit six figures (in today’s dollars). I was just 26, and I was the top earner in the dealership. I also met my husband, Mark. I sold a car to him, and we’ve been happily married for over 35 years!

This was life-changing, but I still had not found my life purpose.

While selling cars, I was introduced to the manager of the local IDS financial planning office.  It was the same office where I had interviewed four years earlier.  Now, the timing was right.

The Universe took me on a DETOUR.  The business owners I met through my time at Metro Trade would one day become my very best clients when I was a seasoned financial planner.

In fact, I ended up building a very successful financial planning practice. Over the next 20 years, I built a team, and we managed over $100 million in assets for the most amazing clients.

I continued to learn and grow and became a Certified Financial Planner™ professional.   I hired a high-level business coach for three years at The Strategic Coach Program to learn how to build and scale a business.

This led me to my new dream and a new chapter — to create Smart Women’s Empowerment where I could teach women how to make smart life AND financial choices.

Because we had a team and systems, I was able to sell my financial planning business to my partner of 15 years and, at 48, retire to launch my passion project! Today, at 65, I am so grateful for the interesting journey, even with all the bumps and challenges.

Why am I sharing all of this?  Because I want you to know that your beliefs, thoughts, and actions are the ingredients to manifesting your dreams.  You CAN truly Think Yourself Rich.  I’ve seen hundreds of women transform their lives to manifest their dreams, and you can do it, too.  It doesn’t matter how old you are, how much money you have, or your education.  It all begins with a dream and then acting.

In fact, I cannot wait for you to meet our first guest, Joumana Karouz. She grew up in war-torn Lebanon, often living in hiding. She will share how she left for the United States at just 22 with $1000 to begin her new life. You will be moved by how her gratitude for being in our amazing country helped her not only overcome adversity but also build one of the most successful personal injury firms in Michigan. Her story will inspire you that anything is possible.

My second guest is the brilliant business coach, Mike Gruley, who works with successful business owners who have achieved success but are stuck and unable to get to the next level and even find themselves surprised that they aren’t as happy as they thought they would be.  He will share success tips that will help you live with more ease, joy and abundance.  I promise you will love both of these engaging conversations and won’t want to miss either show!
